Common Questions / Student Rules:
Students arrive in the USA five days before school starts and they go home within five days of completing school.
Students agree to conduct themselves in a respectable manner as an ambassador of their country, obeying all state and federal laws of the USA, all program rules host family rules and the schools.
This is a non-smoking program. Smoking is not permitted.
The use/possession of alcohol or illegal drugs is forbidden.
American friendships are encouraged. Intimate relationships that include sexual / physical involvement are not allowed.
Program participants are expected to maintain a C average or above in their classes, attend all classes as scheduled unless permission to be absent is approved by both the school and host parents.
Driving of any type of a motorized vehicles is strictly prohibited.
Visits from the natural family and friends from home are strongly discouraged, till then end of the program.
Overnight travel is only allowed with a host parent, school approved chaperone, church groups, exchange program representative, or one of the SMG tours.
Independent travel is not permitted while on the exchange program.
Host families set limits and expectations for living within the family. They must be followed.
Program partipants are expected to take part in family activities and follow rules with regards to respect, chores, curfews and social activities.
Program partipants are expected to pay their own phone bills and other expenses of a personal nature.
Use of the phone, cell phones and the Internet are privileges. Rules will be determined by the host family (recommended time for exchange student's Internet use is 30 minutes per day)
Program participants must follow all program rules and regulations as outlined in the Student Handbook.
Christmas break is spent with the host family.
